Featuring Palaka, a vintage Hawaiian workwear print known as "Hawaiian denim," a durable, checkered fabric that originated in the early 1800s from imported sailor jackets. It became the staple, heavy-duty workwear for Hawaii's plantation workers, paniolo (cowboys), and stevedores by the early 20th century, favored for its durability and blue-and-white or red-and-white pattern.
Kaimuki & Golden Hawaii Barbershop are community hubs of the hard working town of Honolulu, adjacent to Waikiki, where Toots! bases his operation.
