A full zip, lightweight merino-blend hoodie worthy of the Birdwell name.
After an exceptionally warm response from our customers, we’ve decided to take this limited-edition release into full production for the season. When surfboard pioneer Hobie Alter first encountered polyurethane in 1958, he knew right away that he was onto something special. We felt the same way the first time we picked up the merino wool and cotton blend we used for our very first hoodie. Melding the cool comfort of cotton with wool’s unique hydrophobic fibers yields a naturally odor-resistant fabric that helps regulate body temperature and also feels super soft against your skin.
Our merino, double-zip Hoodie takes the classic, versatile wardrobe staple and gives it a serious overhaul, in both looks and construction. These perfect surfside companions make an ideal layer between our jackets and tee, or a single layer bulwark against the relentless refrigerated air that blasts through commercial plane cabins. Like Alter, we’ve paid extensive attention to the details — every seam is carefully constructed here in the USA with clean link stitching rather than the ragged edge you find on mass-market hoodies. With blind-stitched pocket bags, a sandwich hood seam, and fully fashioned shoulders for more low-key luxury, this extremely versatile sweater will travel effortlessly from the beach to more formal environs.
