Broadly centered around three areas: political, economic, and financial risk analysis of host countries, our approach takes these three areas of host country evaluation and selection successively. We believe this should be an ongoing process of monitoring the host country, and not a one-shot evaluation. There is ALWAYS turmoil internationally. Therefore, it is critical that your company keep abreast of these international risks by taking a Proactive approach, rather than a Reactive approach to international business.
Three Step Approach The Three- Step approach that we offer generally entails an initial evaluation, ranking, and selection of the host country. We can rank the prospective country with respect to its peers or indexed to the "optimal" country, usually the U.S. or another industrialized country. In addition, we offer periodic monitoring of the host country, usually quarterly.
This Three-Step approach includes:
Step 1: Political Risk Analysis Providing insight on the possible political opportunities and threats that may directly affect international operations. With the stroke of a legislative pen, or a political backlash against foreign companies, your international operations can be significantly affected. It happens all the time.
Step 2: Economic Risk Analysis The second step is an economic risk evaluation of the host country. This entails past, current, and future economic prospects of the host country. Forecasts of the host countries economic conditions, generally, or as it relates specifically to the project in question.
Step 3: Financial Risk Analysis Finally, we evaluate the financial risk of the host country and provide expertise on such items as, project-specific risk, cash flow estimation and discounting, strategies on moving funds in to and out of the host country, the stability of the financial and banking sectors, and general transfer pricing issues.
